Editorial Policy

Mission

SectechMedia publishes independent, accurate and useful information about security, safety, fire protection and related technologies for global industry professionals.

Independence

Advertising, sponsorship and commercial relationships do not control our editorial conclusions, rankings, reviews or news selection. Sponsored content is clearly labeled as such. We aim to cover competing companies and alternative technologies fairly wherever they are editorially relevant, including in our coverage of fiber optic sensing (DAS/DTS), where we maintain the same independence standard applied to every other technology we cover.

Source Hierarchy

We prioritize primary sources wherever possible:

  • Official standards bodies and regulators
  • Government and public authorities
  • Peer-reviewed research
  • Manufacturer technical documentation, for product-specific facts
  • Confirmed company filings and statements

Where primary sources are unavailable, we rely on established specialist trade publications and reliable secondary reporting for context.

Press Releases

Press releases are treated as source material, not finished editorial content. We rewrite independently and attribute claims to their source.

Technical Claims

We distinguish measured, independently verified facts from manufacturer claims. We do not invent specifications, approvals, deployment scale, customers or performance figures. Where data is uncertain, we state the uncertainty or omit the claim.

Reviews and Comparisons

Where we publish reviews or comparisons, we state our methodology and criteria, avoid declaring universal winners when performance depends on application, and separate field-tested results from desk research.

Conflicts of Interest

Authors and editors disclose direct commercial relationships relevant to reviews, opinions, rankings or investigations.

Editorial vs. Commercial

Editorial and commercial functions operate on separate workflows and permissions. Commercial stakeholders do not have authority to edit independent editorial conclusions.
